The TruffleHunter Story: From Farmhouse to Fine Dining and Foodhalls
In 2007, our journey began with a leap of faith and a sense of adventure. Our founders, Nigel Whitehouse and Omi Pears purchased and lovingly restored a rustic farmhouse nestled in the rolling hills of central Italy. Surrounded by sun-drenched vineyards and ancient olive groves, they began cultivating grapes and olives, immersing themselves in the rhythms of rural life.
It was in the bustling stalls of local markets that they first encountered truffles—earthy, aromatic treasures that captivated their senses and sparked a new passion. What began as curiosity quickly turned into fascination. They foraged, learned, tasted, and experimented, eventually sharing their discoveries with friends and family back in the UK.
The response was resoundingly positive. Encouraged by this enthusiasm, they launched a small online store, offering fresh truffles directly to British food lovers. Demand grew, and so did their ambition!
In 2010, they returned to the UK with a bold new vision: to bring the magic of truffles to a wider audience through a full range of truffle-infused products, and so TruffleHunter was born. They established a dedicated manufacturing site, combining traditional Italian inspiration with British innovation. From truffle oils and butters to gourmet sauces and snacks, every product is crafted with care, quality, and a deep respect for the ingredient that started it all.
